ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Danine Mele-Hayes, an experienced registered dietitian of over 25 years, has successfully balanced her career while raising four active children. She holds a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Indiana University, completing her internship at Indiana School of Medicine. Starting her journey as a registered dietitian in clinical nutrition at a Los Angeles hospital, Danine discovered her passion for counseling while working with the ketogenic diet team at the UCLA Health-Epilepsy and Brain Mapping Program. She received training in metabolic ketogenic therapies at John's Hopkins Hospital and is currently a valued member of the ketogenic diet team in the Neurology Department at Kaiser Permanente LAMC. Her extensive experience as a Registered Dietitian in Long Term Care/Rehab facilities reflects her commitment to assisting patients with various chronic illnesses. Beyond her clinical work, Danine has a private practice program helping children and adults through medical nutrition therapy. She takes pleasure in developing personalized meal plans to help clients achieve their health goals. Danine became a member of the Ketogenic Diet Advisory Board in 2008 and is a private specialist for The Charlie Foundation. She co-authored a chapter in the How to Maintain and Support a Ketogenic Diet Program in the book Epilepsy and the Ketogenic Diet, published in 2004. She is active in the Ketogenic Diet community as a professional speaker. She treasures her time spent with family and friends, explores new destinations, takes long walks, and enjoys paddle boarding , cooking, and reading.
